This week I would like to share a couple of simple tips that allow me to tuck away cash to travel. Not having extra money to is one of the top excuses for not taking a vacation. I'd like to share a couple of ideas with you that will hopefully motivate you.

First, I save every $5 bill that passes my hands. I rarely have cash but when I do I put it in a jar. That adds up a lot quicker than singles. You may have heard this tip before, but I'm here to tell you that it is mindless and adds up very fast!

Secondly, I coupon!! I'm not by any means an extreme couponer, but I do not pay full price for anything. My rule of thumb is to only buy things that are on sale or items that I have a coupon for. I plan my meals around the things that are on sale. Couponing does not have to be time consuming. Here are some steps that can help you easily transition into couponing:

1. Get the Sunday paper weekly

Not only does it have coupons, it has the weekly sales at your local stores. Compare the sales with your coupons.

2. Check Krazy Coupon Lady

This site is a useful tip. I always check their site and take notes before I go shopping. They offer break downs for every sale and tell you which coupons to use.

3. Make a list based off of the coupons you have and what is already on sale

STICK TO YOUR LIST! If you're near a Publix, get their store coupons and get digital coupons online. They also double coupons up to $0.50 (except in Florida) Take advantage of their buy one, get one free deals also. There's usually a coupon for the items that are on BOGO.

4. Get more coupons

If you come across a sale that you can't pass up and would like to stock up, go to We Clip U Save. This is a coupon clipping service. They charge between 0.06-0.12 to clip the coupon, but if it is a sale that would allow you to save at least $1, it's worth it. They offer rewards towards free coupons, shipping is also free for orders more than $7.50. Did I mention they offer same day shipping?!

These steps take out of the "work" out of couponing for me. It has really saved me a lot of money. Remember, if you buy an item just because you have a coupon, you aren't saving money. Only buy things that you will actually use or something you would have bought anyway. I don't bother printing coupons because buying ink is another expense.

Lastly, after using your coupons, check the bottom of your receipt to see how much you saved. Put that amount in a jar or envelope and save it for you next vacation. I've saved about $120 this month, that's enough for a weekend getaway at a nearby beach, I'll take it. Give it a try and let me know how it works for you.

I was not paid in any way for this post. This post is my own opinion. Every service mentioned is a service that I use faithfully and highly recommend.

As always, if you have any questions, ask. I love you guys.

Until next time,

Demetria
